Is blogging good for brain training or are
brain games better? Also does blogging raise the serotonin levels in the brain?
    Thanks

    Alvaro

    Brent: great post.

Fully agree on the need for valid and reliable assessments. The construct of "brain age" is a very artificial one-we better measure a number of cognitive skills to set up a baseline, identify priorities for workout, and measure progress.

Btw, are you familiar with Elkhonon Goldberg's The Wisdom Paradox book? You would enjoy it.

The Wall Street Journal article mentioned here was published on Feb 3.

Lumos Labs has a fun and scientifically proven brain training program that wasn't in the article because it just came out. Right now you can sign up for free because it's still in beta. Check out lumoslabs.com

I took the online Posit Science
test - and did very well:

Not sure how well I'd do on visual tests. I think I'll just leave it be and consider
    myself a near-genius...

Your post has as much to do with Dan Pink and his book A Whole
New Mind as the BrainAge/Posit Science stuff:

And there is a whole new theory out there that's kind of interesting:
